For many survivors of trafficking, tattoos, scars, or burns were inflicted as a form of branding by their exploiters. These visible reminders can be deeply traumatic and hinder the healing process. Tattoo cover-ups play a significant role in helping survivors reclaim their bodies and remove these painful symbols of their past. By transforming or covering these marks, survivors can experience a sense of freedom and renewed confidence.

"ARI's mission is to transform painful reminders of the past into symbols of hope.
We provide support services, tattoo removals, and cover-ups to survivors of sex trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation,
self-harm, addiction, and former gang involvement, nationally. In addition, we train communities on Iconography
and from a lived experience perspective as a survivor-led nonprofit organization."
